“Civic Action: A Vision for Long Island City” Opens at The Noguchi Museum
Honoring the civic legacy of artists Isamu Noguchi and Mark di Suvero, The Noguchi Museum, in partnership with Socrates Sculpture Park, will explore new ground with the upcoming exhibition Civic Action: A Vision for Long Island City.
Four teams–led by contemporary artists Natalie Jeremijenko, Mary Miss, Rirkrit Tiravanija and George Trakas, and comprised of architects and designers–will reveal visionary scenarios for the future of the Museum’s unique and rapidly changing neighborhood in Long Island City. The exhibition opens October 13th, 2011 and will be on view through April 22, 2012 during regular business hours. This exhibition will be followed by a second phase of large-scale installations at Socrates Sculpture Park in Spring 2012.
